Accidentally Aligned: Lessons In Leadership From the Lunch Counter

Today, I experienced a moment that perfectly encapsulates the essence of leadership and growth. As I stepped up to order lunch, the worker greeted me with a nervous smile, saying, "This is my first day on the job today, so please be patient with me. I am doing the best that I can."

Here's how I responded: "I quickly reassured them, 'There's always room for "firsts," and I'm here to help you get it right. Take your time.'"

The result? A smile, a successful order, and a lesson learned.

There are Two Types of Leaders: The Nurturers (Green Leaf) : They see potential in every beginning, understanding that every great tree starts as a small stem. They provide support, patience, and encouragement.

The Critics (Cactus) : They focus on flaws, using them to elevate their own status, often at the expense of growth. Here's my challenge to you: Let's correct the wrongs in our world, but let's do it in a way that nurtures growth, not stifles it. Encourage the "firsts." Celebrate the bravery it takes to step out of one's comfort zone.
